Right. This sounds like a feature enhancement or a plug-in that could be
written into enfold desktop.
I imagine Title is required; that is the reason why it must be filled
in.

It's not a bug; your asking for a feature.  
I would imagine it would take us between 4-8 hours to fix.

There is a plug-in we have that demonstrates 'auto checkin'.

It's also questionable if Title should be filled in by the
File->Properties in Microsoft Word -- of read the metadata (right click
on a word file and goto summary).

So I think you point out a valid issue, that Title should not be naively
automatically filled in.

We will look at adjusting this for Enfold Desktop 3.0.
